Murderous Chanteuse:Behind the Music

JENNIFER HILL as MURDEROUS CHANTEUSE

Murderous Chanteuse is the alternative-pop musical persona of Jennifer Hill, who combines trenchant, emotionally engaging lyrics with a sound grounded in influences ranging from Bjork to Madonna to Pink Floyd.

Her musical point of view is informed by, and supports, her activism for women in the arts and domestic violence survivors. She is the founder and organizer of SWAN [Support Women Artists Now] Day CT, now in its 14th year, an annual music and art festival.

As Murderous Chanteuse and previously, from 2006 to 2014, as Jennifer Hill and Co., she has performed throughout Connecticut and NYC as well as the East coast and all the way to the mountains of Colorado, and has received multiple regional award nominations.

Hill has taught vocal and performance skills to more than 500 children and adults, including children performing on Broadway; acted as musical mentor to local performers in all aspects of performing career; and traveled with major-label bands to provide vocal coaching.

Her work-in-progress is the album Gaslight Noir, which tackles complex issues of surviving abuse.
